I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to omakase at Tei-An. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding! SERVICE: 5/5 Booking via Resy was simple, but when I needed to adjust our reservation because my partner wasn't up for omakase, the staff handled it with professionalism and ease. When we arrived, our seats were thoughtfully arranged, and our server, David, was knowledgeable and engaging, explaining each dish as it arrived. A special touch was how they adjusted my partner's seat and napkin while he was in the restroom--impressive attention to detail. OMAKASE: 5/5 Every dish in the omakase was crafted with precision and care. The fresh blue tuna from a recent carving show elevated the sashimi, and the soba noodles were the best I've ever tasted. I got the sampler which featured intriguing flavors, like black sesame, that were new and exciting. ATMOSPHERE: 5/5 The restaurant's ambiance was intimate and cozy, thanks to the soft lighting and minimalist Japanese decor. It created a soothing environment that perfectly complemented our meal. Overall, Tei-An delivered an exceptional dining experience that was well worth the cost.

Second visit at Tei-An and was pretty satisfied on my second visit as well. Their service and atmosphere are top notch, and their food is also very good. While we enjoyed all the dishes our favorite is their soba sampler. I love the fact that you can enjoy different flavors of dipping sauce and their soba noodles are freshly made in house. Honestly not sure if I would strongly recommend this place for other food, for fresh soba, this is the place to go! Oh and their desserts are awesome too.

Came here on a Friday night. My last visit was years ago, and I was hoping to relive the great experience I had then. I made the right call. I know a lot of people come here for their Omakase. I actually haven't had their Omakase, so I won't be speaking to that. I ordered from their regular and seasonal menu. Honestly, if this was my first time coming here, I'd be confused. The menu at Tei-An is fairly extensive, but if I can summarize it, it's a combination of shared plates and individual meals. They're really known for hand made soba (buckwheat noodle), so if this is your first time, definitely, get their sampler soba. Now on to my own experience that night. I had made a reservation earlier in the day, so I was quickly seated. They sometimes get packed, so definitely try to call ahead if you didn't make a reservation. That night, almost all tables were occupied, so I got lucky. After briefly appreciating the decor, the server greeted warmly and gave me time to look at the menu. When he came back, I asked him a few questions and recommendation before ordering. He's very knowledgeable about the menu, so I felt safe following his recommendations where I saw fit. I started with the white seaweed. I never ordered this before, but saw that it's a pretty popular dish. It wasn't bad, but I probably won't get it again next time as it didn't feel like anything special. The seasonal menu this time has some interesting fish I'd like to try, so I also ordered today's sashimi. I wish I had gotten more tho. The dish came with 8 or so pieces, 2 of each fish. I got the usual salmon, tuna, yellowtail, but also got one fish from Toyosu market. They're all delicious!! Next I got the whole grilled eel. I love grilled eel/unagi, but my beef is usually it's not prepared well, so you can feel all the tiny bones. This one was amazing and came with gobo tempura, which tasted like fries. A meal at Tei-An just won't be complete without Tei-An shrimp. I dreamed about having the dish again for a very long time, and when it finally arrived, it didn't disappoint. The shrimp was fresh; the crunch was just right; the mayo sauce that came with was to die for. Two other dishes I got were the crab and uni risotto and eggplant soba. The risotto was good and creamy as always. The eggplant soba is a hot soba dish. It was still pretty good, but I definitely feel like soba is better served cold. To top the night, I ordered the buckwheat ice cream with black honey and black sesame mousse. The two balanced each other as the honey was sweet while the mousse was somewhat savory. I probably overdid it that night with the amount of food I ordered, but honestly, it was well worth it. The ambience is always wonderful, and the servers are always attentive. Hope to be back some time soon!

The service was friendly. Everything was good. Nothing changed my life. Tei Tei firmly remains our favorite Japanese food/experience in DFW, but glad we have now tried Tei-An. The one disappointment was the lychee martini; it had almost zero flavor. I think if we went again it'd just be best to do the tasting menu. Several servers were "helping" us but each explained the menu slightly differently; everyone had a specific opinion of what order we should eat in... but couldn't help us order; just made it feel like we didn't know what we were doing since the menu is actually huge!

This is definitely a special occasion place. I wanted to try it since it ended up being close to the ballet. This place was dimly lit and where we were seated was mostly couples. Got a reservation right when they opened and it was nice. The place definitely gets loud as it starts to fill up. They gave me a basket to place my purse in so it wasn't hanging from my seat. TLDR: It's good but seriously for special occasions. I wouldn't say it's entirely unique or mind blowing. Most dishes are shareable and we left full without spending more than $300 after tip. Our server explained how the traditional course order went and was readily available with questions. They're fancy with the water here and it's like $8 a bottle. Started off with sushi which was very fresh and delicious. We ended up ordering it twice. The white seaweed salad was light and refreshing, for sure unique if you're not Asian I should've known lol but it was still nice to see how a restaurant prepared it versus my family. We also got the washu beef hot rock which ended up being one of my favorites. The main star and thing they're known for is the house made soba noodles, which I admit we're really good. I could eat double the portion the gave. The dipping broth that came with it was the perfect level of salty and they give you the soba liquid after to turn it into a sipping broth. The duck was overcooked to me :( miyazaki beef soba noodles with broth was also delicious and warming but nothing special. The beef was super tender. The soba ice cream was not what I expected. It was good and most of the sweetness came from the black honey but I think my favorite part was the toasted powder they had on top. It added a whole different profile to the dessert. All in all, it's a good restaurant but now that I've had it, I can cross it off the list and keep it that way.

Tei-An is exactly the contemporary zen Japanese it claims to be. An aroma of woody incense is pleasingly present as soon as you walk in. The decor and stone arrangements also make the earthy vibe a comfortable dining environment. Our server, Janie was very kind and went out of her way to provide exceptional service. She introduced the menu and explained how the sequence on how the food is served. The house made pickles were a refreshingly excellent start to open our taste pallet. They were a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and tart. Highly recommended. The soba sampler is a great way to taste different flavor pairing for the soba. The bolognese is an interesting take on westernizing soba. It has the light texture of soba noodles combined with the richness of mushrooms and cheese. The chicken karaage was disappointing to me as it tasted pre-packaged and out of the freezer. I know it's not the what they specialize in, but they could improve the karaage recipe to taste more traditionally Japanese. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience at Tei-An because everyone was super hospitable. Other servers stopped by our table to exchange our dirty plates and wipe the water off our table. I can tell there's a lot of effort put into the details of service. I hope others can have the same positive experience as I did.

We had an excellent lunch at Tei-An yesterday. Soba noodles were definitely a unique experience. These are cold noodles serviced without broth and accompanied by a variety of tasty dipping sauces. Each mouthful of noodles are dipped into a different sauce and then slurped up to be enjoyed. We also had a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes but I don't remember the names of the fish as I went with a variety of recommendations from our server. They were pretty good choices for the most part. The restaurant decor is upscale and modern, and there is a classy quiet vibe. Tei-an is a small but cozy restaurant without a ton of seating. Service was very good and our server did a great job of explaining the menu. Tei-an is a very nice dining experience and we enjoyed our meal and visit to this well known Japanese restaurant!
